There is one more name we can probably throw into the mix, and it's the ex-CSU assistant named Jermaine that is also a current K-State assistant. Yep, Jermaine Henderson. He does check all the boxes that Cleveland State is seeking. That said, he was a born-and-raised MAC guy, so losing him to a MAC school down the road is a possibility. might be hard to fine a coach wanting inherit this shit storm. This is mess. There are only so many division 1 head coaching spots and there are no other jobs available right now. Unless you are a guy that knows you are getting a job next year you might be inclined to jump on this opportunity.

Man, this is wrong on so many levels. You want a job really bad, here your chance! Nothing loose, this is your place! Attention all Walmart shoppers,...
Job Add: Position Basketball coach for university located in downtown Cleveland. Not a DI coach, no worries we are not really DI anymore. You have 2 months to prepare for the upcoming season, hire a staff and prepare your team. Oh by the way, can you a team with you? We seem to be missing one now.

I see young up and comers waiting for a better job. I get it but these jobs are wanted. There are a ton of coaches that wonder if they will ever get their shot. Kimbrough for example is shooting hard for it because it’s probably his best opportunity to get a job and it could work out. The one thing I will say about Kimbrough is that he will put the work in. It’s a grinder of a job.

Players mutiny because the practice was too Hard? huh? WTF? AD picks most insane part year to show the coaches the door?
This video adds to the frustration. Somebody tell me this is not the reality of the situation.
Video on Why Felton was fired:

Somebody tell me this is not the reality of the situation. Video on Why Felton was fired: Schwab was the sideline reporter for Cleveland State's WUAB games and forgot that Jalaam Hill was the fourth transfer. The entire interview barely scratched the surface and, to me, didn't provide all that much more insight than is already out there. I turned this video off the second he mentioned Sonny Johnson.

The biggest takeaway from that video is he is right that the hire never made sense.

The biggest takeaway from that video is he is right that the hire never made sense. However, the assistance coaches made up for the lack of connections in the mid-west. Keep in mind, Kevin Mackey did not have local connections either. He was a Boston guy who did a lot of recruiting in the NE. So I don't buy this emphasis on the local connections. Just have great connections to any recruiting pipeline is more than adequate. CSU was not the first choice for most of the local talent that played for the Vikes. I doubt it will ever be the # 1 destination for local kids. As for the video, I was concerned that the rumors of "abuse" is not the same as "hard practices" as noted in the video. We all heard stories about Waters practices. Would that be considered by these group of players as abuse? Because if that is the case, I think the word abuse is being used inappropriately.

The difference is Mackey was a damn good coach, one of the best defensive coaches in the game. Felton wasn't a bad recruiter but wasn't nowhere near the coach Mackey was, KM had personality coulda been a HOF coach if not for the scandal.

The video implied that local ties was import and one of the attributes that Felton's hire did not make sense was his lack of local ties. I always thought the "Local" argument was flawed. Item 1: "getting the best local players". The video also implied that local ties is important b/c of recruiting local talent. I'm basically turning the commentator's position on it's head. Attracting local talent is very difficult not b/c of ties to the community; instead it's the desire of the player to be some place else and to hopefully greener pastures. Therefore I think you are wasting your time chasing local talent. Item 2: Having a great recruiting pipeline. Again I'm stating it matter more that you are able to attract the best talent. If someone can consistently bring in good talent from ties that were developed in another part of the country, I don't think anyone would consider that a weakness. I brought Mackey up only as an clear example of such a case of having a pipeline in the NE. What I think Felton attempted to do was to compensate and brought in coaches that each had a different recruiting pipeline. I'm not saying they collectively did a good job executing it. Things began to fall apart early in the process.

Local talent puts buts in the seats. I think that's one of reasons ppl want Local talent. who their family and few friends? Even they stop after being taken to the shed by the likes of our HL competitors. Winning puts butts in seats. They more and bigger games you win the more butts in seats there are. Winning the HL is ok and will get some butts in seats. Constantly deep runs in the NCAAs will actually be the break through and that will move the needle. Ironically only after achieving that threshold of winning will you be able to recruit locally.

That can add up. ok, lets say on an average each of them pull in an average 10 people a game. All 13 are local. Well you just filled up 130 seats. Alright, lets say on a good night they draw 100 people a piece. Now you have 1300. Hmmm, these are all net new fans on top of the 1300 that attend otherwise. Now you are up to 2600 people on a good night. If that is about it, then let's move back to the Woodling Gym and get it over with.

Your over simplifying it. Say they bring family friends others coaches added media coverage for local talent. Increased interest with local players.

Thanks Bobby. That article along with the video is basically saying the same thing, not much. Apparently if there are allegations about any incident(s) involving any of the staff, it is sealed very tight. My experience, leaks in situations like this are seldom contained. I'm beginning to suspect there is no fire there. If that is the case, then I'm giving the AD a huge F for this situation. As far as the xfers are concerned, they made a decision and I really did not care if members of a 9th place team stuck around or not. But if they don't graduate, that will impact CSU. As for Felton and staff, the record is on them. I was willing to see 1 more go at it. If that meant going in with a new team and they failed, then the search to replace him would have been a lot more orderly next March. Now, you have a completely lost season. Shrunk coaching candidates to take this job a lot smaller in a already tiny pool. Added risk more risk in recruiting players in the out years. Possible loss of future scholarships if the players leaving don't graduate. Will cost more to hire the next set of coaches, making the program more expensive. And all of this is on top of the already existing challenges. I definitely do not like what I'm seeing.
