Any pregame thoughts?

I will be watching the game. I have not heard much this year and this squad is a mystery to me. As for the actual game, I never like non DI schools on the schedule, thus not much to say. If it isn't a beatdown; then I will be concerned.

Wow... this game is too close. You would think the Vikes are playing Fighting Irish.

About 500 people in attendance, all with no energy, losing at half time to Notre Dame College, the scorers table isn’t showing any graphics, and no stats on ESPN app. Am I missing anything else? Season off to a not great start.

Season off to a not great start. I expected to everything you mentioned for a game like this except for the score. So far this is an embarrassment. No disrespect to NDC; but, it's hard to tell if the NDC is that good or are the Vikes that bad.

This is the one time when it makes sense to play a non D1 team. Clearly this team has a lot of growing to do, which you’d expect with 9 new faces or whatever it is. Just in the first half there were some flashes from guys like Williams and Enaruna, but there was also a lot of sloppy play.
It’s going to take time for the guys to get comfortable playing together and for the coaches to find their rotations. This is already the second starting lineup used counting the exhibition, with Lowder replacing Price today. I expect that to continue.

Season off to a not great start. The audio on espn+ is terrible, the scoreboard graphic is crooked, they still have a number 1 next to CSU, presumably left over from being the 1 seed in the HLT last year, and in mid-season form, the graphics person keeps forgetting to update the score.

Well....this isn't look good, first joggers? Learning to play together? Coach Waters used to always say you had to “get the Juco” out of the Juco transfers. Sometimes he’d say that took an entire season. Gates had much more immediate success with the jucos but you still occasionally saw some head scratchers. I’m seeing a lot of Juco ball right now. Weak passes, sloppy handling, bad shot selection, bad decision making, etc. Robinson was smart to get Hill in immediately after a terrible Lowder pass. He responded with a few nice plays in a row to get CSU going. Parker, Hill, Williams, Enaruna and Johnson looks to be our best lineup right now. Solid veterans mixed with athleticism.

I won’t freak out yet. As they pointed out on the telecast, Gates lost his first exhibition to NDC. It’ll take a while for this team to figure each other out.
That said, I think Robinson is better off relying on the veterans early. Hill gave them a spark and he benched him for Lowder who was awful. There were other examples of questionable rotations too.
One other random take away, Woodrich altered his shot. It used to be the flattest shot you’d ever see and now it has a much higher arc. I predict he’ll be a much more consistent shooter with the new approach.

Parker shooting much more this year 4-13 against Bw 5-13 vs. Ndc he's not a shooter scorer. Probably average only 3 or 4 shots a game last year

This is probably going to be a tough year. There's some talent, but it's not cohesive on the court. New coaches, new players, new system, some change in culture are all factors. The next six games will give a better picture where this team is headed, but at this time I'm just looking for improvement as the year progresses.
Btw, one of the OOC games is Ark Pine Bluff. Chris Greene transferred there and had 13 pts against TCU yesterday in a one point loss. Appears to be a starter.

How about Anderson Mirambeaux 31 minutes 27 pts 8 rebounds against Evansville Too bad we lost him. He had good hands with a smooth release. Due to his size, he got his share of calls against him.

I'm sorry folks, there is no good excuse to loose to a non D1 team. The jump in talent alone (between D1 and what ever those guys are) should overcome any deficiencies I hear on this board. If this is not starting on the wrong foot I'm not sure what is. If this type of embarrassment is what required to light fire with this team.... then this is going to be a very long season.

How about Anderson Mirambeaux 31 minutes 27 pts 8 rebounds against Evansville yea both Anderson and Greene are two players we might have had a chance at keeping if we have gave Gates top two assistance a chance. But noooooo. Now we're rebuilding all over again. Some on this board didn't agree with me. If this season goes belly up. Remember this is what some of you all wanted. 🙄

I like them both and wish them well but please, let’s not rehash this all season. It’ll be 5 years, at least, before either Joyce or Summers are legit head coaching candidates.

And you wanted him benched.

Gates had a very very very short runway to get team together (not the case here). This is one those "the dog ate my homework" excuses.

CSU has lots of very talented players and great offensive sets by Coach Robinson, just to many turn overs and fouls. ND played like they have been together for a while. If you ever played the game, you know it takes a while to know where everyone should or will be. I think Coach Robinson is going to be a great fit for this team. In a month this team will all be on the same page.

If you ever played the game, you know it takes a while to know where everyone should or will be. I think Coach Robinson is going to be a great fit for this team. In a month this team will all be on the same page. I agree. I think it’s easy to get caught in the frustration of a terrible loss to miss some bright spots. In the grand scheme of things, this game means nothing. We’ll never be an at large team and we’re likely a play-in 16 seed even if we win our subpar conference because of the garbage non conference schedule. So it’s all about growing and gelling for the conference season and HLT. I saw some really nice things this team can build on. 1. Enaruna has tremendous size/skill that will play up in the HL. He has the potential to be first team all conference as an athletic big and in the player of the year discussion if he can hit consistently from outside. 2. Parker looked for his shot more, especially on the drive. I’ve written before that he averaged about 3 more shots per game at James Madison while shooting the same percentages he did last year. If he gets back to those shot attempts per game, he’ll be close to a double digit scorer. Those tough, drive to the paint buckets are there for the taking without Patton. 3. Tae Williams is a super athlete who can get to the bucket. He needs to tighten his handle and play under control, but he’ll have his fare share of highlights this season and will have a defined role of cutting/getting to the basket. 4. Woodrich’s shot looks to be much improved. I wouldn’t be surprised to see him eventually earn a starting spot or be one of the top scorers on the team as a 6th man. 5. Hill picked up where he left off last season as a 10 per game off the bench kind of guy. He’ll provide some much needed steady veteran minutes this year and can get points when needed. Everyone else is a question mark with lots of potential. It’s just a matter of how quickly that potential is manifested into productive basketball.
