Contrary to popular misconception, sheep are extremely intelligent animals capable of problem solving. They are considered to have a similar IQ level to cattle and are nearly as clever as pigs. Baaa, I thought we already had the 5. Glad the coach was not agreeing. Find 1 message that said we had the 5 cover, pretty much I read everyone mentions we need to fill Spider spot as a must, hell I wouldn’t mind bringing another big . Reread the "Off season" thread. The theme was Enaruna had that covered.

The theme was Enaruna had that covered. The theme was okay your best 5 players and if that meant Enaruna at the 5, people thought he could do that because he’s big enough. Debrick is the #12 JUCO recruit so clearly he should be one of the best 5 on the team. The theme was, we need a big, but don’t take lower talent to get a big guy and start him just for the sake of having more size lol.

There was a need at 5. Kudos to the coach. The sheep would have just eaten more grass.

No, philosophy was go get the best talent you can get and don’t just force a big player into the recruiting class and starting lineup if he isn’t talented. Debrick is both which is great. A big was always necessary for depth 100%. The point was to recruit talent though not “make do” which, it’s actually “make do” because we weren’t making anything due.

I never suggested forcing anything. I saw an issue and the solution that was advocated would not resolve the issue. Others were chewing on the lawn and suggesting bigs are too hard to get and make due with what got (in sheep like fashion). All I heard was, "we are in the HL Baaa Baaaa". "Do expect miracles... Baaaa Baaaa"... "It too hard Baaa Baaa...." "We already have a guy to do that. Baaa Baaa Baaaaaaaaa.......

Yeah, now that you say this I’m even more confused and am really in need of someone else to explain to me.

Reread the "Off season" thread. The theme was Enaruna had that covered. The theme was okay your best 5 players and if that meant Enaruna at the 5, people thought he could do that because he’s big enough. The theme was, we need a big, but don’t take lower talent to get a big guy and start him just for the sake of having more size lol. I’m not sure why it’s so hard for him to understand. You summarize it perfectly. Everybody knew we needed another big to replace Spider. Some of us said we thought Enaruna could cover the starting 5, which would help add shooters to the lineup because Williams would move to the 4 and the new 5 would come off the bench. Some wanted a surefire starter at the 5 to keep the lineup intact. With this addition, both options are now available.

In a traditional sense, Williams played the 3 for CSU. But he’ll likely move to the 4 next year without Spider, and Enaruna will play the 5. That leaves 3 openings for guards in the starting lineup (potentially Lowder, Pryor and Woodrich).
Although I loved Spider, we’ll be just fine with Enaruna at the 5. He displayed a strong ability to protect the rim and we don’t face many (if any) traditional back to the basket bangers in the HL. Annette showed more promise than Middleton in a small sample size. I think he has potential to be a solid player. The need is for one more 5 who can compete with Arnette for the backup minutes with the loser providing depth (knowing that last year our starting 4 was essentially the backup 5 and that won’t be the case with Williams so there will be minutes for 3 players at the 5).
I agree with the comment above that I’d be more comfortably with a new starting PG so Lowder can play off the ball as a combo guard. Transfer PG, Lowder, Woodrich, Williams, Enaruna with Pryor as 6th man would be our best lineup I think.
That means starting PG and backup 5 are the biggest needs to fill this cycle.

Gbanks I just don't see why you think Woodrich should be starting. What is it you like about him so much?

With this signing. IMO we are already better than last year, and still have 2-3 spots to fill. Need another Shooter at SG and maybe another wing (could use at least 1 freshman I think in these last 2 spots) Well, we just landed the SG....Another Huge get with Tevin Smith. Coach "one Tone" is killing it. I am so excited to watch this team!!

In trying to make some point that is unclear, you copied a post substantiation exactly what I wrote in this thread. Thank you?

Alright, a direct approach: As I advocated in the offseason thread, the team needed to add an upgrade at 5. Allowing Enaruna to play in his more natural position at 4. Your wording suggested that the task of obtaining the upgrade was too difficult and in sheep like fashion, backed into an inferior position of settling for a backup 5 (instead of a starter). The phrases that are in bold are tells of fallback position rather than an improvement. Hence, you see me using phrases like "Make Due" to describe your position. I figured you would get this point without me spelling this out.

There were two major points in that thread, largely from you and me. Both agreed we needed another center. You wanted a starting center. I said I thought the lineup was better with Tae at the 4, which meant Enaruna would have to play 5, and the new center would be a backup. I specifically said I’d prefer a freshman who could develop and start after next year. That’s it. You’ve grossly misunderstood suggesting Tae at the 4 opens up the offense for “let’s make due by recruiting a backup center”. You’re confused. Please stop.
