Texas and Oklahoma are in deep talks to join the SEC. Obviously this feels like something very far off from impacting mid major basketball but we have seen before how the domino effects of a move especially as large as this one can last for years and impact many conference.

Obviously this feels like something very far off from impacting mid major basketball but we have seen before how the domino effects of a move especially as large as this one can last for years and impact many conference. That would end the Big 12 and leave the remaining schools to try to join the other 4 big football conferences. No way the other conferences will allow the remnants of the Big 12 get a slice of the pie. What ever is left of the Big 12 will become like the AAC. It will be interesting to see how the SEC deals with Texas and the Longhorn network. It caused friction in the Big 12.

The more I read, the more this looks like a lot of chaos is about to be generated. - Will the Big10 swallow all of the AAU PAC12 schools to form an 8 team 3 division super conference of 24 teams? - Will the AAC pick over the Big12 scraps to make their conference larger? - Will there be only 2 super football conferences in a few years taking their TV money and leaving the NCAA? - Will the mid major category matter after the football schools leave?
No longer in the "Big Boy" conference, Some of the "Big boys" are about to find out how big they are. Funding their programs will become a challenge w/o that TV money.
This will not impact the Vikes and most mid majors; unless you live by the adage of Misery likes company.

Like today, I'm sure ESPN will throw them a few dollars in order to fill up dead space in their TV schedule.

One point I have read talked about the football schools leaving the NCAA altogether. Sure that would have a big impact on football and football schools. The secondary impact would be are we talking about ALL sports also leaving with these schools. If yes, then is there a March madness anymore? That would have a big impact on basketball. Big East may end up in the same boat as the mid majors.

Umass will be moving to the MAC in 2025. It would be great if the Vikes could find a way to replace UMASS in the A-10.

They would need to invest more The A10 actually has a TV contract that could help offset the increase traveling costs. With schools in Pittsburg, Chicago, and Dayton, we are in their foot print.
