Just a thread to keep track of the upcoming season's non-conference games.
What games do we know already?

I would expect a game with Kent State. Last year’s was cancelled at their place. I’m assuming we’ll make that up. Ohio U concluded a home-and-home last season. All other games were pay games or tournaments with no expected return.
It would be nice to get back on Duke’s schedule since that’s been cancelled twice now. We also had a game at Nebraska cancelled in 2020.
The schedule really is a blank slate.
I personally think we should play Kent and Akron annually. Hopefully we get back to always having one of them at home. Add maybe one more MAC school, travel to a few high majors, and then fill in with other mid/low majors from the Summit, Ohio Valley, MVC, etc for home-and-homes.

Canisus just announced their non-conference schedule. Cleveland State will play at Canisus on Wednesday, November 16.
Canisus plays at the Koessler Athletic Center. With a capacity of 2,176 (per KenPom), it is the 26th smallest venue in Division I in terms of capacity.
They play just Northeast of downtown Buffalo. 3 hour drive from downtown Cleveland. Possible Superfan road trip

Tom Mieskoski is also reporting that CSU has a home game with Kent State on Saturday December 10th.

Tom Mieskoski is also reporting that CSU has a home game with Kent State on Saturday December 10th. I love the Dec. 10th date for Kent State. The first Saturday after college football season. Smart scheduling for a game that should bring in the casual fan. Games like this have traditionally been scheduled head-to-head with Ohio State-Michigan or on other big football weekends (conference championship Saturday), which always seemed like an oversight to me.

Scott Garrett said in an email dated Tuesday August 2nd to season ticket holders that the non-conference schedule would be released "in a couple days". So should be any time now

The away games look entertaining. Kent St. headlines the OOC home games. The others are expedition games that count.
More reason to continue to expand the HL. Not going to comment on DIII scheduling.

Since you don't want to comment on the schedule, I will do it for you. The schedule is a complete joke and total garbage. 2 Division III games, 2 games versus two of the bottom 10 teams in all of Division I, and one game versus a local mid major is a laughingstock of a home schedule. Not even any road buy games to get the program a nice check. Pathetic.

not going get many new season ticket holders with this schedule. These games would not fill up Woodling Gym.
I'm speculating, due to the late start, it was difficult to schedule home games.

Late start? Robinson was hired in the first week of April. 4 months ago. He had plenty of time to put a quality schedule together. He must not have many connections in the college basketball world and/or not be able to sell other coaches on playing CSU. Not a good sign.
With how weak the Horizon League is, and how weak this schedule is, and given CSU's roster turnover, I would be surprised if CSU has better than a NET rating of 300 this year.

I agree this why the HL can never get above a 14 seed

Garbage is a good description. Looking ahead though, St. Bonnies, Loyola Marymount and Western making return trips to Cleveland next year would be the start to a decent home schedule.

Are you sure that St. Bonnies, Loyola Marymount and Western are contracted to play at CSU next year? I have no idea. That’s why I said it “would” make an interesting schedule. Most games with other mid majors are scheduled as home and homes, but not always. Sometimes they’re part of those exempt MTEs, but even those can be returned (like we are with Canisius this year).

I officially did not renew my season tickets today. I just couldn't do it with the awful schedule

I officially did not renew my season tickets today. I just couldn't do it with the awful schedule I don’t blame you for making your decision. For me, I’ve always looked at season tickets as more of a donation. I’m looking to support the program more than I’m looking for a specific ROI. That helps me justify the purchase with a bad schedule. I never attend the D3 games anyway, and even in good years I have trouble making most weekday games. That just gives me an opportunity to give the tickets away to friends and introduce them to the program.
