He's 6'2 6'3. Another guard. This makes me wonder about Lowder is he signing here nothing official yet & he committed about 2 weeks ago. Or in watching off season workouts coach doesn't like what he sees at guard position

I think you take the heat players you can get and sort it out later. I wouldn’t take a non competitive big just to have size over a guard who could contribute.
Also, in today’s environment, there’s so much attrition with transfers that the depth chart will always look completely different from year to year and you’ll always have scholarships available. Max out with as much talent as possible every year and then start over next season.

my 2 cents (if that much)... We need another big. We could have kept Anderson Mirambeaux. Granted not the prototype 5; but, showed he could shoot the ball.
When you have so many guards, there is only so many minutes you can play them. Recruiting a slightly better guard won't move the needle.

I’ll repeat what’s I’ve said many times in this forum, Robinson is a disciple of Iowa State and other coaches who play 4 guards a lot. Vikes will play up tempo, 94 feet of basketball. I’m guessing coach is comfortable with Johnson, Enaruna, Middleton, and Arnett as bigs.

But I’m not taking a stiff who won’t help us win just because he’s over 6’7”. I’m also not sure we had a choice in the Mirambeaux situation. As far as I know he entered the portal on his own. And like I said, rosters fluctuate from year to year now more than they ever did. You force a big onto the roster this year just because you need a 4th big, bit suddenly next year you might need guards after a rash of transfers and you’d wish you didn’t waste that scholarship on a big who won’t help.

However, I remember Water's years when he played 4 guards (I don't think by design). Playing 4 guards is great when you make a high percentage of shots. Those previous 4 guard lineups did not have top notch shooters. The Vikes would only get 1 chance at the basket. Those games were very entertaining for the opponent's fans.

You can force a big off the lineup too. As you indicated, rosters fluctuate. In the past, I was never a big fan of running players off. In this day and age, I no longer care. Since there is no loyalty either way in college sports, I just assume get the best available based on talent and need. Player development is a luxury.
