So as part 2 of my "Season Opening Discussion", I was wondering what people's favorite CSU game is that they ever attended.
There are a lot of options for myself. 2011-2012 home win over St. Bonaventure with a late Trey Harmon 3. 2010-2011 NIT win over Vermont with the opponent's 3 pointer bouncing around every centimeter of the rim before falling out.
I think though my favorite game ever has to be one CSU lost. The 2010-2011 home game versus Butler when we sold out the Wolstein Center 8,500 strong. Probably the only time in my life I had to feel like I had to stand in line before the doors opened to get a good spot to stand in the arena. And just seeing it sold out was an amazing sight.

2007-08 Butler for me. Gary Waters second year, the “flip the script” year when they went from 20 losses to 20 wins to make the NIT and set up the NCAA run the next season. We had a big, energetic crowd for that game to welcome 12th ranked Butler. It was a close game throughout and the crowd was electric in the second half. CSU held off a few late three attempts and the fans rushed the court as the buzzer sounded. Joe Davis, Cedric Jackson and J’Nathan Bullock all had strong games for CSU. www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/recap/_/gameId/280170325

Runner up is 2003-04 against North Carolina. Over 11,000 at the Wolstein Center for a matchup with top 10 UNC in Mike Garland’s first year as coach. CSU led for most of the game and somehow let it slip away in the final minutes. Omari Westley had a big time game and CSU had some timely threes and gritty defense along the way. www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/recap/_/gameId/233330325

UNC game is a good one to pick. We'll never see 11,000 in the Wolstein Center again haha. I didn't know how good Omari Westley was until I asked TheOneTheOnly a few days ago. I wonder how CSU got UNC to come here. Maybe the Jawad Williams connection

I have to also add the 2020-2021 Horizon League Tournament Quarterfinal game vs Purdue-Fort Wayne. The game that went 3 overtimes and CSU won 108-104. It's lower on the totem pole of "great games" I think because the team, relative to other CSU great teams, wasn't as good talent-wise. And also there were no fans in the arena. I remember watching in my basement in the home theater going crazy. The game did help propel us to an NCAA tournament appearance, though you could argue it did more for Dennis Gates' career than it did for CSU as a program. But still, a memorable game that helped CSU get to the NCAA tournament.

A few other random fun wins I remember:
It ended up meaning absolutely nothing in the end, but the 2018 Horizon League Tournament Quarterfinal win over Northern Kentucky when NKU was a top 100 team nationally and CSU was a 10-22 team that was expected to do nothing was pretty fun and exhilarating in the moment being at the arena in Detroit. Also kind of announced Tyree Appleby as a big time player.
2014-2015 late in the season win at Green Bay in overtime on ESPN put CSU alone in first place at 11-3 in the conference. Trey Lewis outperformed Keifer Sykes.
2013-2014 at Oakland. My first time in the O'Rena at Oakland. Raucous crowd, and Travis Bader had just set the all time NCAA record for three pointers made. Bader nailed 10 three pointers but CSU ended up beating Oakland late in a 92-85 win. Also was a very entertaining ejection by Greg Kampe LOL.
2010-2011 at Akron I'll never forget Norris's dunk over Zeke Marshall LOL
