Tip is at 7:00pm on ESPN+. Game is at Fort Wayne. PFW is favored by 5.5 points. Huge game for the Vikes, a win moves them into a tie for first place in the league.

The Vikes finish the 1st half of the conference play this week with 3 games on the road. Like to see the Vikes get all 3 grames.

We need to start talking about the impact and potential of Tae Williams more. Not a great shooter but he’s been phenomenal on the defensive side, outworks everyone, rebounds well, and slashes to the hoop really well with his size and athleticism. Phenomenal impact for a newcomer.

Up 32-26 at half.
Going to continue to gush about Williams. 10 points and 4 offensive rebounds in 1H.

Great game by the vikes, led handedly for the majority of the game. Tristan Enaruna dominated this game in the 2H. 20 second half points.
72-60 win for the Vikes. Beat a good team, on the road, by double digits… team seems to be clicking.

Good performance by the Vikes and definitely the best game I seen Tristan play.

Was at the game...Tristan Eneruna is a force for this team. He showed leadership, toughness, bounce, hustle and athleticism all night long and the whole team recognized it. I almost cant believe we will have him for another year, Tae was fantastic also. 16 offensive rebounds tonight also and 14-16 from the line (Tristan was 9-10. Another guy that really impressed me was Drew Lowder...DeShon was solid and steady again as well....A very solid night for our Vikings!...Keep it rolling fellas!

Hopefully a flip switched for Enaruna in that 2nd half. He sometimes looks like he’s coasting along just waiting for the game to come to him. In the 2nd half, it’s like he realized no one could guard him and he just took over. Still only 13 shot attempts but he got to the line 11 times. I’ve said this before, but he should be averaging over 15 shots per game.
Great game for the Vikes and a huge road win!

Tristan Enaruna now averaging 16.8ppg/6.5rpg in conference play. Good for 10th and 11th in conference. Enaruna is 10th in FG % and 4th in FT %.
Tae Williams now averaging 12.9ppg/6.6rpg in conference play. Good for 16th and 10th in conference. Williams is 3rd in FG %.

That isn’t in his game at all. He’s a super athlete, he plays with tremendous energy, and he’s a pretty good slasher. But he’s just not a shooter.

But he’s just not a shooter. Frankie is right....but if he can develop a 3 pt shot (even at a 30-35% clip) opponents would have to respect that, making him even more effective and harder to guard with his quickness/athleticism/slashing ability. Having Tae and Tristan back again is huge...

I agree. Tae is a great slash and dunk. But defenses are aware. Limits him to transition or back cuts (which I don't see). Kind of a Issac Okoro role were the D plays off of him and cheat to cover the the bigger threat.

Would I like for Tae to improve there? Yes, it would be nice for him to become a serviceable shooter. But not everyone on the floor or a team needs or should be a shooter.
The Warriors didn’t ask Draymond Green to become a good shooter.
You have guys to rebound, guys to slash, guys to shoot, guys to defend, etc. good team have players that fit all roles. Asking Williams to be what he isn’t - when he’s really good at what he does - is misguided IMO.

When viewing the starters, they score in the paint. When the Vikes inserted Woodrich, that was one less person in the paint. When everything is in the paint, this impacts Tae and makes him a little less effective. If you noticed, we tend to win games when someone starts hitting 3s and opens up the driving lanes. Unfortunately, the Vikes are very streaky outside shooting team. When they don't drop, its fugly and our D keeps us competitive (but not forever). So image a team with all Draymond Greens. Hmm on second thought, lets not. But, I think you get my point. Someone, anyone has to keep the D honest.

Ideally Parker or Williams could stretch the floor along with Woodrich. Unfortunately, out to 4 players don’t shoot well because this isn’t a perfect team. The bench is shortened to really 2 people in competitive games. Lowder and Hill. Ideally. 2 of Lowder, Hill, and Woodrich are on the floor for the majority of games spelling Williams and Parker. However, the Parker, Williams, Enaruna, and Johnson pairing is extremely efficient defensively together so it’s tough to not play those guys together. Game will dictate (or should dictate) who gets playing time based on need and game situation. I’d also love to see Drake start to get minutes over Hill…

Great discussion. I’ve said a couple times that although I’m a fan of Tae, I don’t think his offensive game is a good fit with the rest of the starting lineup. If we had shooters playing PG and PF, he’d be a much better fit at the 3. I’d be interested in seeing an offensive lineup with Tae at the 4 and Enaruna at the 5, with all of our shooters playing 1-3. Something like Lowder, Hill, Woodrich, Williams, Enaruna.
But we really only have a shooter playing the 2 in most lineups, and that slot is the only one that’s rotated, with Price, Lowder, Hill (mostly) and now Woodrich getting starts. I think our best offensive 5 includes two of Lowder, Woodrich and Hill (in that order), but for some reason they’re mainly subbing for each other.
And as someone already mentioned, Tae at the 3 with Enaruna and Johnson is our best defensive lineup, so there’s definitely room for that too. I’d toggle back and forth depending on opponent and situation between our best offensive lineup and best defensive lineup.
I’d bracket it like this:
Offense Parker/Lowder Lowder/Hill Woodrich/Williams Enaruna/Williams Johnson/Enaruna
Defense Parker/Lowder Hill/Woodrich Williams/Woodrich Enaruna/Middleton Johnson/Middleton
