They can't seem to win on the road. If they play Kent the way they played, SM in the second half, they could win,but outside of Tristan, Lowder and Tae,if he can penatrate we have no offense

We are all the way down to 211 in the NET rankings today. Who knows where the bottom is for this team. Ranked 6th in the Horizon League by the NET rating.

If they win this one, I would be pleasantly surprised, Kent has too many weapons and the Vikings are inconsistent on offense. They Start off slow and get into deep holes.Lowder is the key to a win. Tae needs to utilize that jumper he worked on in the off season.

This team isn't as good as I thought, at home their ok, on the road they're awful. Missed layups, can't hit a free throw to save their life. Now they have dug another big hole for themselves. Our guards are awful. Aside from Lowder, but even he's streaky. No consistency outside of Tristan.

Arnett looks more aggressive. Thats a good sign, and Smith looks more like a keeper each game. We’ve just got to get more consistent on the offensive side and play harder on the defensive side. We could still be very good.

Just like the SM game, they dig too deep of a hole

I had a hard time watching.
From what I can see so far this year, the Vikes are a middle of the road team. How that translates into HL play is hard to say. During the Gates years, there was no direct relationship between OOC results and HL results. I suspect the top of the HL is better and the rest to be slightly better.
Since many of the Vikes have not played together (before this year), the team should get better as the season progresses. I'm not seeing that.

Other than Tristan, there is no consistency. They can't hit free throws and miss simple layups

Because the pattern of slow starts has been firmly established and they can barely score, I'd suggest to Coach that he employ lock down defense in the first half. Something like the gritty Waters defense. Keep it close at the half, maybe over foul, but then get it straight in the second half. Otherwise this looks like an uninspiring season.

This team is built like a Waters team. The players are very athletic with limited size and given that number of players in that mode, should be able to keep that pace up.

It's odd how the pattern of bad beginnings with encouraging endings keeps repeating itself. To be fair, they're playing all tough road games. The only one they should have won was at Eastern Michigan. They also probably shouldn't have gotten blown out in Youngstown.
But, it's the Horizon League. As someone said, the bottom is awful. IUPUI is IUPUI and now UDM is IUPUI too. RMU and UWGB are bad. UWM doesn't look very good either. So CSU will (eventually) get their wins, but it won't help in the NET because they've lost all of these games against good teams and will be beating up some of the worst of the worst in Division 1 in the conference.
And CSU has at least played a difficult schedule. They will only play one non-D1. They could have loaded up with 3-4 non-D1's like IUPUI and Youngstown State and claim to have a bunch of wins.

The Vikings have pretty much been figured out. Lock down on Tristan and Tae an force the others to beat you. And more often than not they can't. We don't have consistent guard play. One game Lowder looks and all HL first teamer, the next game he disappears, same with Chase and the other guards put ten twelve points up,next game nothing. Jayden Stone,Counter,Trey Calvin, are examples of the type of guards we need. Fort Wayne has the most consistent guard play in the league if not the country. Watched them play, they're very good. Robinson needs to recruit better guards. Our team is Tristan, Tae and a bunch of streaky shooters who can't hit free throws. Who mentally check out away from home.

Despite what some have said early on, I think the schedule is a very good schedule. However, non D1 games should be restricted to pre-season. As for the Vikes record, I was hoping for better. It's not a disaster. In the HL, there is no at large bid; thus OOC only matters if you win the HLT. For road games, the coach needs to change up the routine.

In the HL, there is no at large bid; thus OOC only matters if you win the HLT Exactly, but the problem is, if CSU somehow does pull off a 1980 USA vs Russia miracle and win the Horizon League tournament, they are locked into a 16 seed and losing by 40+ to a top 4 team in the country.
