Per the Twitter/X account CollegeAD, Scott Garrett is leaving CSU and has accepted a Deputy role in wake Forest's athletic department. Damn. His two men’s basketball hires have been home runs and he seems to have done a good job with fundraising. Sad to see him leave, if true, especially for a deputy role.

Scott took over CSU and made a head coaching hire at a time when we had lost 21+ games in 4 consecutive seasons. It was the lowest point of the program that I had ever seen since I started following CSU. Then he proceeded to make two good coaching hires and bring the program back. He also took yearly fundraising from 350,000 to over 1.2 million. Really hoping CSU President Laura Bloomberg takes her time and hits a home run with this next AD hire.
The connection is Scott worked at Kansas State for 9 years for John Currie, and Currie is now the athletic director at Wake Forest. So from that standpoint, it makes sense.
The only part I find odd is the timing, with Scott leaving in the middle of an athletics season, and him leaving so suddenly with his last day being in 11 days on January 15. He's not waiting for the end of the athletics year.

On Page 14 of the contract, it states that no amount will be due to CSU if the employee terminates the contract after July 1, 2023 which it is after that date so it appears CSU will not receive any buyout money.
The contact in the same paragraph also states that Scott has to notify CSU 30 days in advance of leaving in writing of his intention to leave, and with his final date being January 15, this had been in the works for a while.

Interesting timing. Just like Felton's removal was interesting timing. Like others on the board, I agree, he was able to hire good coaches.
