52-51 with 11 minutes left this one is going to go down to the bitter end. Just hope we can come out the other side with a win so I don't have to rant today....they have 3 division 1 wins for crying out load.

CSU pulling away to end this at least no sweat to the bitter end today but was some tense moments there for a bit.
NKU was up 8 at Oakland with 4 minutes left let us hope they can pull it out.

NKU was up 6 with 10 seconds left so of course Oakland his a 3 to cut it to 3 with 8 seconds left. NKU needs to get ball in and hit the front end of the 1 and 1.

I didn’t agree with not putting them back in, but obviously that one game didn’t make a difference. I think Gates was more confident than most of this board in terms of wrapping up the top seed. Don’t be surprised to see more experimenting in the final two games which are essentially exhibitions for CSU. |

Why occupy space on the floor if you are not going to take a shot when the opportunity presents itself? To me that is odder than not being on the floor.
When he is not on the floor, then you have 5 people participating in the offence. When he is on the floor, the burden is greater on the other four to compensate for the loss of production.
I don't pretend to know the dynamics taking place. I just hope that these are planned events.

Patton did have 4 turnovers but that’s not unusual for him and others were turning it over too, including Gomillion and Finstuen who both played the majority of the overtimes. Hodge was in foul trouble for much of the game so maybe he was punished for that? Funniest of all, they were the main ones making their free throws that game. Interesting how Patton will shoot a greater than normal amount of 3s in one game, then not make any attempts in a different game.

I can see an argument for putting your starters back in, but it also makes sense to leave the guys out there that brought you back. That also goes towards the confidence factor in the kids coming off of the bench: They brought CSU back, they deserve the chance to win it.
If Gates is known for one thing, it's about going with the kids playing hard and well at that moment, regardless of who they are or how they got there. When he started Jeremy Sanchez for a few games as a walk-on, I think the message was pretty clear - I don't care who you are or how you got here, if you've earned the right to be on the court, you're going to be on the court.

I can say this with a high degree of confidence. I have no idea why all the starters did not come back in at PFW or why Patton did not take a shot until the 2nd half. However, I did notice it; but did not think it was an underlaying factor in the loss. I just figured, if you play PFW enough times, they are going win some. |
