Looks like Greene, Mirambeaux, Gomillion, Hodge, Majok, Terry, Sanchez, Eskandari, all leaving. (Patton, Jack, Finsteun, Eichelberger, Beaudion also through graduation...which we knew about).
Guys left: Woodrich, Hill, Parker, Middleton, Spider, (and hopefully Pryor and Young). Lots of spots to get filled!!

I’m surprised there’s been no news about who Robinson is recruiting so far… have a lot of spots to fill, I’m going to guess he goes after a mix of transfers and HSers.

Hard to recruit before you have a staff. Needs to get the staff finalized then I think you will start to see some movement. Also we don’t know if things are happening. He could have some recruits lined up but we have no one with a connection to him.

I mentioned this earlier in the process, a lot of times the decisions on staff are made long before they go public. My guess is at least 1-2 spots on the staff are already lined up.

Ramar Pryor just sent out a tweet that said #GoVikes with a video of the CSU logo so it sounds like we will still get him next year, which is good news

As I stated in the Coaching Search Thread: The first test will be how many hit the transfer portal. This will indicate how much like Gates the players believe he actually is. The Vikes had the challenge of having too many players returning and taking on additional players via commits. Now the Vikes have 5 returns and 2 commits. For a first place team, that's a significant turnover. Some can argue about who was lost and that is fine. However, will the new players help win another HL title? Then who he brings with him. This will indicate some loyalty he has built up and their belief in him. So far this is up in the air. You don't need assistant coaches to secure your own coat tails. If they are coming, then show them off. I not against him bringing back the current staff; however, he deserves the chance to bring in whoever he thinks is going to help him build a winning program. This is work in progress. The good news, it's April and there is time for him to get his footing, recruit, and devise a plan to go forward. this is also a work in progress. So far, I am getting concerned; but, its still early. The Championship team has been dismantled, no other way to look at it. It does present the opportunity of getting better players; but, the flip side is there is a risk of not getting better players. Considering we are all fishing the same pond, the only variables we control are the bait and our skills to fish that pond. I just hope the skills far out weigh the bait.

Spider has been through a lot and has stuck by CSU through it all...He really is the glue on this team.

Conference has been gutted of all the best talent. If Robinson is actually a good recruiter, he can turn CSU into a top team again like Gates did, fairly quickly.

Talked to a coach today who is at a mid major program he said the transfer portal isn’t the biggest issue it’s the NIL that’s killing mid majors. He said guys are entering the transfer portal that normally would stay and start at a mid major program but are willing to come off the bench for power 5 schools because they are getting paid 20k-100k to come. He said if mid majors want to survive they need to gather together better as a voting block in the NCAA.

I think I just heard a few things in that statement. - The P5s found the best bait in the world to go fishing. this fish just can get enough.
- The P5s have engineered the best of all worlds. They can pay players through a 3rd party and they avoid the costs of making them employees.
- The Transfer portal has officially become the mechanism of turning mid majors into farm teams (again w/o having to bearing any of the costs of the farm team).

Craig Beaudion is transferring. So assume he got a medical redshirt, but is in the portal.

Good for Craig...I wish him the best...good kid I really like him. If the others return, his may have been more about the depth chart with two other veteran point guards on the roster. Not to mention potential new recruits. Who wants to come back for one final season under a new coach to potentially sit the bench?

I'm not sure Craig played more than a 1/2 season each year. While healthy, he was our best PG.

Mabor Majak @mabormajak · May 26 I want to thank coach Gates and the staff for the opportunity. Can’t wait to get to work. #committed.#miz🐯
I’m a little surprised by Gates on this one, I didn’t think much of him when he played here, maybe coach see some potential in him, pretty stiff to me…..

He's a project. A very long list of things that need to be corrected. Like a lack of mobility. He can't run the floor very well. Zero offense. Zero Speed. Should be avg. 10 reb and 2 blk per game. But was very unproductive here.

call me crazy, But I think he has some potential. If he red-shirts this year, spends a year in the weight room and works on his footwork , I think he will be a decent rotational player at Mizzou.

I always thought he was too slow. But maybe in a conference that plays more traditional centers he may have a role off the bench matching up against some big 7 footers. From Gates’ perspective, he brings in a good team player who’s bought into the culture of how he wants to do things, and like they say, you can’t teach seven feet. Worst case, he sits at the end of the bench for two years. Best case, he continues to develop and provides some depth.

The transfer portal allowing guy to leave now without sitting out a year will crush most mid major schools like CSU from now until eternity. Losing Hodge was a huge loss but expected but losing almost the entire team is pretty crazy. Not much you can do either you are bad and keep everyone or you do good and the coach goes and so do all his players.
Might be able to compete for Horizon league titles since every team is being hit but the days of having a decent seed and any chance to win in the NCAA tournament 1st round are likely long gone for most Horizon teams.
