I’m really excited for this roster. I think it has a chance to be the biggest and most athletic we’ve been in quite some time. I agree with those saying the last spot should go to a shooter. I would say regardless of position.
Robinson will have the ability to mix and match the lineup as well. They could go small with Williams playing some 4 like he did some last year with 3 true guards, or they can go big with one of the (near) 7 footers, Enaruna and Williams all on the court together, plus 6-5 Smith at the two and a 6-3 PG in Rice.
There have been times recently we’ve had a lineup with just one player taller than 6-5, and this year’s starting lineup may have 4.
There should be some fun competition as well, specifically at starting PG, two guard and center.

For the sake of discussion, let’s say this is the starting 5:
C Debrick PF Enaruna SF Williams SG Smith PG Rice
6th man Lowder
From a shooting perspective, and just going off percentages, Debrick is an upgrade over Spider as a floor spacer at the 5 with the ability to step out and hit the occasional 3, Smith career percentage wise is a wash to Lowder, and Rice is an upgrade to Parker. And then Lowder off the bench is an improvement over Hill.
This exercise holds true if Lowder starts and especially if they go small to start with an extra guard (which I admittedly don’t think they’ll do anymore).
My point, although our offense struggled at times last year due to lack of shooting, we were still pretty good. And this potential lineup looks to be a better shooting lineup, even without the addition of a proven sharp shooter. And it’s definitely bigger and likely more athletic.

I like the MAC lineup, s/b equally challenging. However I'd like to see some P5s in the mix, it's the only way for the Vikes to elevate. On paper, their roster looks pretty good, they just need to actualize it. Very interested in the upcoming season.

Very interested in the upcoming season. at least solid mid majors like Toledo, and a few mid level P5s like Rutgers or Penn State would help

Is Paxton Payne a walk on? I see Verbal Commits has been updated with this roster and indicates Paxton is a Walk On. Also, the Vikes have 1 open spot available.

Could be a fun discussion for an otherwise uneventful part of the off-season; where do you guys see the HL team stacking up next year in men’s hoops based on current rosters?
Tier 1: Wright State NKU Milwaukee Cleveland State
Tier 2: YSU Oakland
Tier 3: IUPUI Bobby Morris Green Bay Detroit PFW
Didn’t exactly order within the tiers, just put teams in tiers based on where it seems like their roster is at.

Seems pretty accurate, but this is the Horizon, so who knows...LOL. One thing looks certain. The Vikes need to make a big splash this year, as we lose a LOT of talent after this season. Next years recruiting will be crucial to maintain/continue our recent streak of competitive teams....

Ede....Eneruna, Williams, Woodrich and Lowder are gone...that is 60% of our scoring. What returns is still "largely" unknown as far as being able to replace those points. We ABSOLUTELY need another strong class to come in. This season should be a really good one for sure!

Not sure where you saw that I said "dire"....just that it was very important for next years recruiting to be solid to keep our momentum as a program...

Eneruna listed as a Junior? Played 2 years at Kansas, 1 year at Iowa St, this will be his 2nd year with the Vikes. He is using all 5 years (including Covid) of eligibility.

This is really hard. With all of the transfers, each team can completely remake itself. I guess you can base in on how good you think the coach is; I can't keep tabs on all of the players out there.

CSU posted a video from practice today. Obviously it’s early, but the group of guys in black jerseys playing together were:
Debrick Enaruna Williams Lowder Rice

Historically this off-season this means a commitment. Could be a 2024 guy or could be a late 2023 add as some new players have recently entered the portal. Was also reported that Reece Robinson (coach’s son) c/o 2024 would be attending Cleveland state. Have not seen that in many places and no idea what his recruiting profile looks like as I can’t find anything.

The coach's son will probably just be a walk on. Not expecting much out of him on the court. I looked him up and couldn't find any info on how good he is on any website. I would pencil him in as the Paxton Payne role of the future.

Robinson may be a walk on, but I believe University employee children get free tuition. If that's true, how convenient!
